Uji Kompetensi adalah suatu proses untuk mengukur pengetahuan, keterampilan, dan sikap sesuai dengan standar profesi.

UKNI/Uji Kompetensi Ners Indonesia, akan membuat perawat pada entry level register memiliki kompetensi yang dipersyaratkan untuk dapat menjalankan praktik profesi secara aman dan efektif.
Uji kompetensi profesi Ners dengan metode computer base test (CBT) secara Online. Telah diumumkan secara resmi.

Menurut Peraturan Menteri Kesehatan Nomor 1796 tahun 2011 tentang registrasi tenaga kesehatan.
Menjelaskan bhawa seluruh tenaga kesehatan termasuk perawat harus megikuti ujian kompetensi sebagai syarat untuk memperoleh Surat Tanda Registrasi (STR).
Seperti diketahui bahwa Ukom Ners mulai resmi berlaku pada bulan Agustus 2012 silam, bahkan sampai akhir tahun 2018 masih terdapat sekitar 11.00 peserta ners belum lulus.

Hasil Pengumuman Ujian Kompetensi Profesi Dokter di Dikti
Sepanjang tahun 2018 lalu, pihak terkait telah menggelar UKNI sebanyak tiga kali yakni ujian kompetensi priode yang ke-10, ke-11 dan ke-12.
Sementara di awal bulan Maret tahun 2019 lalu, telah terlaksana UKNI yang ke-13 (XIII/2019) serentak di Program Studi Profesi Ners seluruh kampus di tanah air.
Menurut data dari Asosiasi Institusi Pendidikan Ners Indoensia (AIPNI) menyatakan bahwa rata-rata angka kelulusan pada pelaksanaan Ukom Ners pada bulan Oktober 2018 hanya mencapai 35,3%.
Dari seluruh jumlah peserta sekitar 17.800 orang, dan masih terdapat 11.516 orang menjadi retaker.
Menurut data dari Asosiasi Institusi Pendidikan Ners Indoensia (AIPNI) menyatakan bahwa rata-rata angka kelulusan pada pelaksanaan Ukom Ners pada bulan Oktober 2018 hanya mencapai 35,3%.
Dari seluruh jumlah peserta sekitar 17.800 orang, dan masih terdapat 11.516 orang menjadi retaker.
Sebelumnya retaker sendiri adalah perserta yang belum lulus Ukom, dan harus mengikuti ujian hingga lulus atau dinyatakan gagal jika telah melebihi batas ujian ulang.
